New Horizon School - Los Angeles

Assalamu-Alaikum! 

Let me begin with a good news. We had our interim WASC visit in March 2010 and Alhamudillah we received accreditation for 3 yrs. till 2013. Thanks to everyone's hard work for this successful achievement.

Another school year is coming to a close with a few activities left. It is once again time for the tradition of caps and gowns, to say good-bye to our fifth graders who decided not to stay for 6th grade at the school and to welcome a new set of kindergartners upstairs to the elementary school.

Stepping into Spring brings new beginnings…. A time to look ahead and plan not only for the rest of the year, but for the next year. 


With this in mind the enrollment packets with tuition and financial aid information was sent out. Please read the contracts carefully and return them with the registration fee of $125. If you have not done yet. This will help us in planning for next year. After April 14th, the registration fee will be $150.00 

Assalamu-Alaikum. It has certainly been a busy few months since the school year started, especially with the preparation of our 25th Anniversary Celebration.

Alhamdulillah we had a very successful 25th Anniversary celebration at Queen Mary in Long Beach honoring the Founders for their vision and contributions. Layla Shams, alumni from the first year of New Horizon and a current parent of New Horizon School-Los Angles was the MC and talked about our history of going from a dream to reality. We recognized 25 years of Board Chairs, Directors/Principals, PTO Presidents, Staff and our Alumni who have turned out to be successful and confident American Muslims doing well in their education and careers.

Assalamu-Alaikum Everyone and once again welcome to another exciting year at New Horizon School-Los Angeles. Another summer and Ramadan came and went and another school year has swung in.

At this time, I would like to welcome all the new families to New Horizon School-Los Angeles, along with the returning ones. Alhamdullilah, we have 19 new students who joined us this year. I would like to welcome our dedicated and hardworking staff from last year, with a new member Tasneem Keval as the school secretary and social studies teacher, the board and the new PTO officers and room parents who have already started their new responsibilities.

Greetings of Peace and Ramadan Mubarak!  Ramadan is a very special spiritual month all over the Muslim world. At New Horizon, the month is even more special in spirit, as we are living it with our students and the community members. We are proud of our student’s devotion and their attempts to fast, in all its meanings. We are also very excited to have your participation in creating a healthy and wholesome environment for our children.

Dear Friends of New Horizon School, L.A.,
Assalamu-Alaikum. Alhamdulillah, New Horizon School–LA is accomplishing its mission of providing quality academic education and raising God conscious children in an Islamic environment. As we are in the blessed month of Ramadan and during this month Allah (S.W.T) has asked us to pay Zakat, I request you brothers and sisters, to pay your Zakat to our school. Yes, Zakat can be paid to Islamic Schools. In this way our obligation is fulfilled and the school is also helped. Please pass on this request to other families and friends as well.

Assalamu-Alaikum!  Another school year is coming to a close with a few activities left. It is  once again time for the tradition of  caps and gowns, to say good-bye to  our loving and shy fifth graders,  and to welcome a new set of kin-  dergartners upstairs to the elemen-  tary school. Alhumdulillah, this  year was challenging, but has  proven successful on so many  fronts. Even though the enrollment  has been low in upper grades we  were able to accomplish a lot.

As this calendar year draws to a close, I want everyone to reflect on not only their own year, but that of the world. I want everyone to remember the purpose of New Horizon–LA and its commitment to providing high quality academic and character education and its dedication to nurturing spiritual growth and developing God consciousness through the teachings of Islam.
