Pre-School Teacher's Message
Dear Parents, Assalamu-Alaikum,
The 2009-2010 academic year has almost come to an end and, assessing the performance of a large and smart group of children, we can declare it a success!
Assalamu-Alaikum. The preschoolers are adjusting very well to the classroom environment and emerging on the track of learning. The children exhibited tremendous progress in grasping the concepts presented in their lessons through reading new books, coloring, pasting and vocabulary. Physical Education is fun and they all like Mr. Ricky and his P.E activities with music.
We are concluding our first trimester having done the letters A-M , numbers 1-10, seven basic shapes and colors. We have also learnt three surahs. I am very happy to see the children progressing academically, socially, morally and spiritually. Inshallah, we will keep on achieving the best for our children with the help of you wonderful parents, our ever dedicated Principal, and always ready to go “Teachers”.
Our Hajj Simulation was well attended by the children, and their parents and the lunch was delicious. Thank you! Alhamudillah our 25th Anniversary Celebration dinner on November 22and, 2009 at Queens Mary was a big success with so many people in attendance. Now, our school.
Assalamu-Alaikum. Warm welcome and greetings of peace to all the preschool children and their wonderful families. I am Ms. Zainab, and I teach Pre-school. I want to invite you to be a part of the informative and challenging world filled with the spirit of excitement and learning in our Pre-School.
The Preschoolers and we teachers spend the first few weeks to get acquainted with each other making friends. Every child is unique and special to us. The Pre-Schoolers are developing communication, identification and memorization skills and are responding well to instruction. The children are also getting used to the daily routine of the class and school.
We have started to learn our letters and numbers and have done the letters A-C, Numbers 1-3. In Islamic Studies, the children are learning Surahs from the Quran “Al-Fatiha” and “Al-Ikhlaas”, the names of five prayers and some basic Islamic rules along with Islamic songs. In Arabic studies, they are learning the basic spoken Arabic words. Children are encouraged to express their imagination through arts and craft, coloring and painting.
Finally thanks to the parents who came for the “Iftar Potluck”. We will be going to LA County Fair on October 1 and I would like my parents to help me in supervision. Once again, I would like to welcome all the children to the threshold of knowledge of creative learning through our daily experiences. Finally, we appreciate your co-operation towards the well-being of our school and for the education of our children. Zainab Nigehbani
Dear Parents, Assalamu-Alaikum.
The 2008-2009 academic year has almost come to an end and, assessing the performance of a large and smart group of children, we can declare it a success!
They have developed in areas of Language Arts, Science, Arts and Craft. They have learned the alphabet, sounds of letters, associating words, many new and old songs, nursery rhymes, and stories with actions. The children also conducted many simple science experiments. Based on weekly themes, they know well about sea animals, farm animals, fruits, flowers and seeds. And with our new computer set, we learned egg hatching of butterfly, tortoise, fish, hen and duck. They enjoyed coloring, block printing and pasting, and they can trace, match the numbers from 1-10 and also recognize the letters and numbers in dodging method.
Inshallah, our last fun field trip to adventure city is scheduled for June 16th. The end of this school year is as lively as the beginning. The start of the year was full of hopes, and the end is full of satisfaction and much gratitude. I want to thank all the parents for their support and help this year. I really loved working with your children. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of your child’s developmental stage and may Allah give the best rewards for our efforts in future. Ameen

Dear parents of pre school children, Assalamu-Alaikum.
I welcome all new pre-schoolers to New Horizon School LA. My class is a colorful mosaic of lovely energetic bright students. Alhamdullah! Welcome to our new playground. Ahlan-wasahlan. Regarding the learning we teachers and Pre-schoolers are learning everyday something new and the experience is rewarding, as well as challenging. Sometimes the younger ones see and learn from the older students, but at times old ones start acting like their younger counterparts. In either event the experience is rewarding. It is fun to watch and wait for any situation to arise.
The old students are almost ready to go to the next class, they have learned the alphabets A - T, with associated sounds and words. They will continue learning up to W through the end of April. Together we have successfully learned numbers up to 12. Currently children are reinforcing number and object association, along with learning how to carry our matching/ rearrangement of jumbled-up letters, working on recognizing the three basic sizes of Big, Medium, and Small and finally revising shapes and colors.
Children are frequently gaining exposure to science via theme work and in-class activities. These include: using sensory perceptions like taste, touch, and smell (with fruits and food). I would like to thank all the parents for their understanding and cooperation . Please continue to stay involved in your child’s learning.
