Pre Kindergarten Teacher's Message

06/01/2010

Assalamu alaykum,

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the school year. Time has gone fast as we have been busy with all the different activities. Parents, as you might have noticed we are very busy with different activities and programs at the school. The best guide for you to keep track of activities is to regularly read the weekly bulletin which is sent out every Monday.

Dear Pre-K parents, time is flying by fast and we are already coming to the end of the first trimester of the school year and very soon we will be welcoming the year 2010.

November was a month full of wonderful activities. We learned about the Pilgrims and Indians. As this was a month of thankfulness the kids got an opportunity to learn to be grateful of the things Allah has given them .It was wonderful to find out from the little ones—What they were thankful for? Weekly reader and small stories were the means to help through the themes.

Pre-Kindergartners were so excited to participate in the drawing competition and it was great to see the children bringing in their imagination to make the ocean theme alive on the paper. Big thank-you to all the parents! We had a chance to experience the blessings of Hajj and the celebration ended with a delicious lunch. Parents your participation is very much appreciated. As we move on into the winter weather the students will be learning new vocabulary related to the cold weather. We will look into the animals that Hibernate—explained in simple words as long sleep. Great news we have started to print our letters and numbers. The students will be evaluated on their overall performance in the class activities.

It gives me a great feeling to see the students showing responsibility and maturity each day. I appreciate the students and parents efforts to continue to make this a successful school year.

Assalamu-Alaikum Parents, What a blessed month to start the new school year. Welcome! we started the year by getting to know each other and by learning all about our surroundings inside the classroom and out on the playground. My goal is to build positive and nurturing relationships with children. We started off by getting to know each other and learning to accept the new friends in class. The days were shortened during the month of Ramadan. I would like to thank the parents for co-operating and picking up the children early.

It was a great learning experience for the students to share food items and toys with the needy people by bringing the items to school. They learned all about fasting, special prayers and Zakat. Thank you parents for coming fro the Iftar Potluck and bringing delicious food to share with your school family.

We will be learning all about our family and students will be able to learn vocabulary related to family. We will share pictures of our families and talk about them. Themes like apples, leaves and trees will be covered. As it is Fire Safety week we will have a fire safety stop, drop and roll. The students will have first hand experience as the fire fighters will visit the school with their fire truck .October seems to be a very exciting month as they will also learn about Columbus Day.

Parents please feel free to call me in my office hours. You are always welcome to address your concerns. My e-mail address is thadi@newhorizonla.org. Tanveer Hadi

Dear Parents, Assalamu-Alaikum.

It is hard to believe that we are coming to the end of the school year. Time has gone fast as we have been busy with all the different activities. The Elementary students were busy with spelling bee competition and the little ones with their practices for presentations.

Then we had the Spring Fair which went very well and I would like to thank all my parents for joining us and making it a great success. It was also time for the kids to work hard to put up a special show for the parents at the Spring Open House and Arabic Day.

Pre-K kids are trying their best to prepare to move on and get ready for Kindergarten. Most of the students are able to print letters and numbers. We will be going back in time to find out what happened to dinosaurs and try to learn a few names. We will find out more about them by reading books and looking at the weekly readers. The children prepared and will present a beautiful song and card to their very special person –moms. I would like to thank all my parents who gave me this opportunity to be with their kids and for believing in me. It was a pleasant journey and I enjoyed it very much.

I also want to thank all my wonderful parents for giving me a chance of playing an important role in their child’s learning. It sure gives me a great feeling of achievement when I hear parents talking about the things their child say at home about the school. It was truly a pleasure working with your beautiful children as well as working with all of you.

Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaikum,

By the grace of Almighty Allah we have finally done it. The playground is ready! Yes it was team work, Ms. Shahida as our leader the playground committee and the Board members got together and made plans for the renovation of our play area. Thumbs up for our wonderful team of parent volunteers who gave their time to come and help to build the Village Dinner and the Indian Fort. The volunteers especially Ms. Ehsan and Ms. Inaia were their to support in our effort to get the play place done. Thanks to Ms. Shahida for providing delicious breakfast and lunch to all our helpers. Parent volunteers, you will get the hours and recognition at the end of the year Inshallah.

Walkathon went well and the kids had yummy pancakes at our neighborhood IHOP. The next event will be Family night and Talent show, parents please plan ahead for this day and make your child ready for the talent show. And of course Mr. Ricky will be preparing the students for the sports day and Pre-K its time for our bake sale. The big event in the month of April will be our Spring Fair. Please try to attend all school events as your involvement is very important.

We are coming to the end of our second semester. I have seen the difference and maturity level in my students. They are learning to print letters and numbers. We are working on recognizing sets of objects and the corresponding numeral and following directions. Learning about community helpers was a very important part of the week. We are delighted to welcome Shaffa and Mostafa to our class. Parents be involved and help us in our candy sale, your effort and corporation in the system will make us all stronger.
