Kindergarten Teacher's Message

06/01/2010

Dear Parents Assalamu Alaikum!

Well, it seems hard to believe the year is almost over. It was full of wonderful experiences and the children and I have grown and learned together. Each one of my pupil is a star and I wish them all the very best for the next year.

Dear Parents, Assalamu Alaikum. It is almost the end of the trimester and it is amazing how quickly we have reached this part of the year. I am very pleased that everything is going very smoothly in kindergarten, with very exciting activities in all the areas especially in Math and Science in order to strengthen the concepts.

The children have adopted themselves according to the class rules and have become more responsible towards turning in their homework, doing written assignments and following instructions in class.

The kindergartners have already started Book B in Reading which is more challenging than the previous one. Please read to your child every day for 15 minutes and encourage them to talk about what they are learning at school. They have gradually started blending sounds to read words and simple sentences.

In science we are learning about how our five senses help us learn. They will be acquainted with all kinds of textures and different kinds of tastes and smell. Please continue your participation in the school activities. It is deeply appreciated and encourages us to impart the best efforts towards our students. Wishing you all a very happy and safe winter break.

Dear Parents, Assalamu-Alaikum and welcome to the new school year. Alhamdullilah Kindergartners started this year with great enthusiasm. They are settling in very well in class. We started with introductions and discussed the “First Day Feelings”. We reviewed letters and numbers from A-Z and 1-20. Students are doing great as they are turning in their homework regularly and learning sounds in reading.

We will soon be planting seeds in small pots, to see how living things grow and change in our science class. Our field trip to chuck-e-cheese was fun and the students had a great time. We will be having parent teacher conferences in October. This is a time for us to get together and talk one-on-one about your child’s progress.

It was a pleasure to meet all the parents at our annual “ Back-to-School Night” and I hope that I explained most of your concerns. Once again I would like to invite parents to volunteer in class and for field trips and school functions. Your participation is greatly valued. Thank you. Tahira Zainab

Dear Parents, Assalamu-Alaikum.

We had a great constructive academic year. The goals that we had set in the beginning have been accomplished by the hard work of the Kindergartners.

We are now in the process of preparing for the upcoming Stanford tests and simultaneously practicing for the graduation ceremony. It will surely be an emotional day for all of us as it will mark a great transition for Kindergartners. The first years at school are very important in a child’s education and being aware of this fact, I have tried very hard to make this learning experience rewarding for my students. I hope I have succeeded in doing so.

I would like to thank all the parents for their cooperation and understanding. My best wishes are with my Kindergartners and hope that they achieve all their goals and dreams. My heartiest congratulations to you on your child’s graduation.

Dear Kindergarten Parents, Assalamu Alaikum,

March has gotten off to a great start. We are all amazed at what great readers our kindergartners are becoming. Reading is a very involved task to master, so patience and consistency are very important when working with emergent readers.

In math we are working on how to read a calendar, which is a practical skill with important applications in children’s lives every day. We are also focusing on Time, Writing Numbers from 1-100, addition and subtraction problems.

In science we have started a very interesting unit about “ Body Parts”. Children should be able to identify, external and internal body parts and their function. This unit requires a lot of hands on activities which includes a visit to The Science Center upstairs. In April we will be doing our Annual Cultural Heritage presentations. Parents will be invited to exhibit their various cultures and give a brief presentation to our kindergartners. Hope to see you all on March 20th at the costume party and talent show.
